Interim Super Eagles manager Stephen Keshi has called on Nigerians to disregard the reports that he has finally agreed a contract renewal with the Nigeria Football Federation which will see him earn N6million per month.
The former Togolese gaffer who spoke on sports radio, Brilla FM yesterday also added that the N5million per month figure that has become public knowledge is erroneous as he collects N4.5million with the rest being paid as tax to the government.
“It is not true that I have reached an agreement with them to be paid six million a month, I’m still waiting for the negotiation to continue so that we can fully concentrate on the task at hand” Keshi said.
“I also want to correct the report that I’ve been earning N5 million monthly in the last two years. Well the truth is I earn N4.5m with the rest going as tax” he disclosed.
Keshi has been enmeshed in a contract renewal issue with Nigerian football authorities since July (after the World Cup) and some football experts say the contract debacle is the cause of the Eagles dismal outings in the 2015 AFCON qualifying matches.
However, others are of the view that the coach should be replaced with a more technically sound manager to brighten the team’s chances of making it to next year’s continental showpiece in Morocco.
