Man In Trouble For Forging NSCDC Appointment Letter

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps has arraigned one Obanla Wasiu before a federal high court in Lagos over the alleged forgery of an appointment letter into the corps.

Wasiu appeared before Justice Okon Abang without any legal representation. He pleaded guilty to the one count bordering on felony levelled against him.

The charge read, “That you, Obanla Wasiu, on July 15, 2014, around 6am, at Ona Egboa, Ilaro, within the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court, Ogun State, did commit felony to wit; making a forged nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps’ appointment letter, knowing it to be false and with the intention that it may be used and acted upon as genuine in Nigeria, thereby commiting felony contrary to, and punishable under Section 1(2)(c) of the Miscellaneous Offence Act, Cap M17 Law of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.”

Following Wasiu’s admission of the crime, his prosecutor, Mr. Uche Okata, asked the court to fix a date investigating officer would give evidence against him. Okata also prayed the court to remand the defendant in custody.

Abang ordered Wasiu’s remand at the Ikoyi Prison and adjourned the case till August 25.
